Masonry and repairs

All masonry work, tiling, floor levelling, stone grinding, exterior repairs and concrete breaking — the trade the company is built on.

This is the core of the company and what we do every day. Masonry, tiling, levelling, grinding and exterior repair are not a sideline for us; they are the trade itself.

Work reaches us from two directions. Directly: a bathroom to be tiled, a floor to be levelled before new covering, cracked render on an external wall, concrete to be broken out. And as the follow-on from an inspection, when the damage turns out to be within what we repair ourselves.

In apartment buildings that also means the common property: stairwells, laundry rooms, storage areas, shared wet rooms and the external walls the húsfélag is responsible for.

What happens during the visit

  1. We go through the job on site and what needs to be in place before we start.
  2. We protect what must not be damaged: floor coverings, fittings, the stairwell, the lift.
  3. We carry out the work and keep the area usable for residents while we do, as far as that is possible.
  4. We clean up after ourselves and remove waste from the site.
  5. We photograph the completed work.

What you receive

  • Before and after photographs that can go into the húsfélag minutes.
  • The area clean and clear of waste when we leave.
  • Straight answers on what was done and which materials were used.

Before and after

A crack outside is a route for water into the wall

In Icelandic weather the water that gets into the crack freezes and widens it, and then the damp starts showing indoors. We assess the extent, repair the render and seal it — exterior repair is squarely our own trade. Drag the handle to compare.

These images are placeholders; the real pair will be published once the client has approved it.

Cracked render lets water into the wall — and in a freeze the crack widens.
